Britain is about to be overrun by Georges now that the Royal Baby name has been announced, with a surge in popularity of at least 32 percent expected.

Kate Middleton, Prince William and Baby

Royal baby names are always trend-setters, and George - just as William and Harry were three decades ago - will likely be no exception in 2014.

The UK can expect at least 1,400 more baby Georges to be born this coming year, reaching approximately 5,740 in total, versus the past year.

That would push George, the son of Kate Middleton and Prince William, from 12th to fourth place on the list of most popular boy names nationwide.

The names William and Harry saw their own mini booms following the brothers' births in the early 1980s, gaining 23 and 55 percent in popularity.

In terms of sheer numbers, Prince Andrew's birth had the biggest impact on expecting parents, with 5,500 more Andrews born in 1961 than in 1960.

In percentage terms, William and Harry's cousin Zara Phillips holds the record, with 92 percent more Zaras born in the year after she was born in 1981.

Derived from the Greek name Georgious, meaning farmer, George has been the third most common name for English monarchs (six) since 1066.

Henry and Edward lead the way in that category.
