New father Derick Dillard of 19 Kids and Counting fame is unable to get much work done at the office these days, and it's not hard to see why.
An accountant at Walmart’s home office in Bentonville, Ark., he's struggling given the dueling demands of new fatherhood ... and celebrity.
Not because Derick, the husband of Jill Duggar, thinks he's all that, but because everyone else does. He's bombarded by fans all day!
Says an insider close to the famous in-law of the 19 Kids and Counting clan:
“Poor guy ... he’s up all night with the baby, then he has to go to work."
There, he endures "his co-workers asking him all kinds of questions about his wife, their newborn baby, the rest of the family and the TV show.
As a result, Derick Dillard “can barely get any work done!”
It's gotten so bad that the 26-year-old has taken unusual measures to get a few moments of peace and quiet and a break from the non-stop attention.
“He eats his lunch in his car,” laughs the source, noting the reality star dad “may even take a nap ... not that anyone would blame him if he did.”
Jill Duggar gave birth to Israel, their first child, on April 6.
Given her harrowing labor and delivery (watch 19 Kids and Counting online to see how harrowing), parenting is a huge adjustment for her.
“Jill’s having a very tough time with her recovery and Derick is right there with her helping out as much as he can,” the insider says of the couple.
We're not at all surprised. No one has ever seemed more excited to be a married father than Derick. But even he can only take so much.
The last thing Derick needs, given all he's got going on back at the house, is "to be peppered with questions when he’s trying to get his work done.”
Hey, such is life as a celebrity in Northwest Arkansas.
